U.S. senators moved forward Thursday an Idaho nominee to the federal bench in a rare display of bipartisanship on the chamber’s judiciary committee.
Amanda K. Brailsford, a candidate to sit on the U.S. District Court in the Gem State, is currently a judge on Idaho Court of Appeals. She is a former associate and partner at Holland & Hart and was a founding partner of the law firm Andersen Banducci PLLC.
The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced Brailsford’s nomination by voice vote in the absence of California Democrat Dianne Feinstein, which has left the panel with a partisan deadlock.
President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. nominated Brailsford to the District Court on the recommendation of Idaho’s two Republican senators, Mike Crapo and Jim Risch.
“Judge Amanda Brailsford’s nomination embodies the good-faith cooperation that the American people expect when filling vacancies on the federal bench,” said Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill, the committee chairman.
If confirmed, Brailsford would replace B. Lynn Winmill on the district court. Winmill took senior status on Aug. 16, 2021.
A floor vote on Brailsford’s nomination has not yet been scheduled.
